Dr. Jemilat Aliyu Ibrahim

Dr. Jemilat Aliyu Ibrahim graduated from University of Ibadan in 1997.

 

She obtained B. Sc. and M.Sc degrees in Botany and Ph. D in Plant Taxonomy and Biosystematics from the same University. Her areas of expertise include: Taxonomic and Systematic(s) studies of plants, plant identification, plant DNA Barcoding, ethnobotanical and medicinal surveys, standardization of medicinal plants and plant biodiversity conservation.

 

Dr. Ibrahim has many publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.  She has attended several trainings both nationally and internationally. The most recent were:  DNA Barcoding and Assess and Benefit Sharing (ABS) trainings by Convention for Biological Diversity (CBD) at the University of Guelph, Canada and ABS Capacity Development Initiative at Bonn, Germany respectively.

 

She is a recipient of CBD-GTI grant for capacity building and also a member of several national committees e.g. Committee on the revision of the country’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) and member of the National Mirror Committee on African Traditional Medicine (THC 13) on development of standards for African Traditional Medicine.
